Woolcraft
The Australian Sheep & Wool Show’s Woolcraft competition attracts 300 exhibitors over 52 classes from across the country and often overseas.
The quality, design and creativity of the exhibits is the best available in Australia and inspires generations of Woolcraft devotees.
Woolcraft’s aim is to encourage the sharing of skills and knowledge which is why hundreds flock to our demonstrations to try techniques and equipment in the Share Space where weaving looms and spinning wheels are in action.
Our very popular Woolcraft classes cover skein spinning, handknitting and crochet, weaving, felting, machine knitting, wool embroidery, alpaca, cashmere and mohair, wearable art and commercial wool fabric.
Exquisite garments featured in the competition are also modelled at the Woolcraft fashion parades.
Woolcraft demonstrators from a variety of craft groups attend the show and hundreds of wool and textile retailers sell fibre, finished items and equipment for knitting, spinning, weaving, felting.
Our Woolcraft section also provides a ‘Kid’s Corner’ for children to create a work of art and experience working with this wonderful fibre called wool.
