Event description

The Australian Sheep and Wool Show is the largest show of its type in the world where each year up to 3000 sheep from across Australia with 30 plus breeds compete in the show ring. Added to that are up to 400 trade sites covering everything from the finest woollen clothing to large machinery. Shearing and Dog trial competitions are also part of the event as is a Festival of Lamb marquee showcasing how to cut up a carcass and cook food.

The ASWS is committed to ensuring positive community health and wellbeing, whilst conducting the Australian Sheep and Wool Show in our outdoor display space and indoor pavilions. We commit to advertising before, during and after the event with regard to the following COVID mandates of our event.

Australian Sheep and Wool Show - COVIDSafe regulations state:

  • Masks are mandatory for all indoor facilities (Every patron must wear a mask - unless they have a medical certificate exempting them)
  • Masks - In Outdoor spaces masks can be removed, however if social distancing can't be maintained, masks will need to be refitted to accommodate. (Every patron must carry a mask - unless they have a medical certificate exempting them)
  • Social Distancing standards MUST be maintained and will be supported by our organisation (with clear lines identifying 1.5 metre clear zones in front of every site - where applicable)
  • COVIDSafe Signage - Reminding patrons of the need to maintain social distancing and apply good hygiene habits as well as if you feel unwell stay home - Signage will be supplied and installed across the entire venue space and at the entry to all outdoor and indoor entry/exit locations.
  • Hand Sanitiser will be supplied via automated dispensers for all patrons to use on entry and throughout the entire event space. All Vendors (Exhibitors) will be required to have hand sanitiser available at the entry to each exhibitor site.

EXHIBITORS will be required to undertake Covid event safety training and adhere to plan.

  • COVIDSafe Contractor Planswill be mandatory for each contractor and will to be supplied to the office prior to the Australian Sheep and Wool Show start date.
  • Contact Tracingdetails will be taken (Name and Contact number) before entry into the Event space (No contact Details = No Entry). The ASBA have an online ticketing system and a QR code system which will be utilised for this event. In the event of no electronic means, hand written contract tracing will be implemented.
  • Clearly defined ENTRY and EXIT pointsfor the activity has been established. The ASBA has defined 4 entries and exits points to avoid patron bottleneck, and will maintain one-way traffic wherever possible to avoid patrons clashing. Gate no. 2 on the Site Map will only be used for entry and exit of Shearing Sheep as detailed on site plan.

All Ticketing boxes will remain touch free with our existing method of QR code ticketing. Entry points for manual ticketing will be directed to socially distanced and administered single ticket boxes (Ticket Box - Main Gate and Gate 1) and several members of the gates/ticketing teams will record manual information on behalf of patrons who don't subscribe to smart phone technologies. Signage will clearly direct current elctronic ticket holders through gates with QR code scanning and social distancing in lines, as well those who require assistance with manual recording.
